Houston Heights History

The Houston Heights' history began at the end of the 19^th century. When Houston Heights was founded in 1891, it was a street-car suburb of Houston. It had its own local government until the City of Houston annexed the neighborhood in 1919.

The Heights have an enforced deed restriction to keep the neighborhood's character and charm.  That historic influence gives the exciting community of Houston Heights many advantages over other neighborhoods in town.
